okay I recently got a 2004 dodge stratus.. about a 10 months ago. well 3 months after having it a lady runs in the back of me totaling the car out. I didnt have gap insurance. My insurance company figured that the total was around 7800 dollars. While I still owed a little over 10000. So my insurance paid what they could and my remaining balance is like 2,239.00 I tried to pay my payment online which i did every month on gmacs' website. It tells me my account is invalid. I had emailed them about 2 weeks ago and they never emailed me back . then i receive a letter telling me that gmac has made every attempt to contact me and now that i havent paid anything i owe the whole balance. And prior to all this mess when i had talked to gmac about the wreck they told me they would try to get the car paid off seeing it was not my fault. Come to find out that was BS. This company has gave me nothing but problems and I will never use them again. Has anybody had problems with them before. BTW I was never late on my payments and paid them online.
I never had problems with them but they are a huge company and typically inept because of their size. It's water over the dam now, but you should have picked up the phone and called them, or sent them a certified letter. Whoever at GMAC told you they would try to get the car paid off for you was just plain wrong. Now you need to call them and see if you can work out a payment arrangement with them.
I purchased an auto from a GM dealership, signed the contract (thru GMAC), took delivery of car etc. several days later i recieved a car from the finance manager saying they included a $1000 rebate that they shouldn't have, and i needed to come down there and resign the purchase agreement. this will raise my monthly payment by about $25. Am I leagally obligated to do this or is their mistake my benefit?

Can this be done? I am looking at a left over truck that currently has 0% financing available. The dealer is offering it @ invoice, so the deal seems legit. My only problem is my negative equity right now.....in the area 5000! Ouch I know, stupid mistake made a few years ago. Anyhow, the current loan is also with GMAC. If I were them, I would not sacrifice the 4.5% they were earning on my negative equity and allow me to roll it into 0%, but I'm hoping they allow it in order to push one more new car. One more thing, the LTV would be in the neighborhood 112%, relative to the MSRP. Any input on this?

I would be surprised if they didn't require it. You should get it anyway. Nothing sucks like making notes on a wrecked car. And do not waive (refuse) uninsured/underinsured motorist coverage. Thats what pays you if you get hit by someone with no insurance, or too little insurance. This day and age with illegals and other uninsured motorists on the road your odds of being hit by someone without proper liability insurance are pretty good.

Maybe it’s not so hard to get talent to move to Detroit and work for General Motors. The auto giant hired erstwhile Microsoft CFO Christopher Liddell, 51, as its CFO today, as Bloomberg first reported in this story . It was the latest move by Chairman and CEO Ed Whitacre, who has been running the company since GM’s board ousted CEO Fritz Henderson on Dec. 2. Liddell may have been on his way out at Microsoft, but his resume is pretty stacked, which hints that GM may be able to get some good talent in to the C-suite.
Want to know the best thing about his resume? It doesn’t say General Motors New York Treasury Office on it. GM is supposed to have the best finance department in the land. The company has plucked top graduates from Harvard Business School for years. The people managing GM’s pension funds have shown a great knack for beating the market, even in the worst of times.
