go default on mortgage? We are going thru short sale/foreclosure situation and stopped paying mortgage for a month now. Would a car loan lender raise rates based on our mortgage default? Or is the loan rate fixed for the terms of the loan?

Only credit cards have universal default clauses. If you are late paying the mortgage or car loan, the credit card company might just kick in the universal default. But your mortgage and car loans are installment loans with set interest (or at least rules for adjustable rate increase) that don't include universal default clauses.

Here's what it is: I wanna know rates from online lenders(like lendingtree) before applying for the loan. I know my credit score and I do not want to apply before I am sure of the rates. I am looking for the lowest rate. another reason why I do not want to apply first is, I do not want them to pull my credit- it is damaging if too many lenders pull your credit. So, Ho do I find out the rates without applying for the loan.

Ask yourself this, how is a lender to know what you qualify for without submitting your history..

I just want to get a general idea from people who have or who have known someone else who have gotten a car loan on bad credit and how high the interest rate is.

Let's say the applicant has a well-paying job but only for the past few months (say, 90k/yr). Looking at a new car 20-30k, on a 5 year payments plan. Down payment is 10%-20%.

What interest rates would you expect for mid-500's credit score?

For 500?

For high 400's?

Even lower? (is that possible?)
So car loan companies look at a lot more than just the credit score, right?

As in, a 550 credit score (due to no credit history) is much better than a 550 score that's due to collections and late payments.

Thats a decent down payment. It really depends not just on yuor credit score, but reasons why your credit is bad. Car financers will look closely at things like bankruptcy or collections If those things are on your credit you will be paying heavily. Upwards of 15-20%.

Now if your score is low just due to things like too much debt or lack of credit history, then you will be ok assuiming that your income is good.. maybe 8-12%.

i just bought a chevy aveo ,new, and i got 13 percent interest rates.I put $4000 down.Would anyone know if this is bad credit interest or average credit interest.I know that in california if you get six to seven percent interest this is good credit. hopefully someone that works in financing can answer this,as the car dealer will not tell me if i was found to have my credit good or bad.Note:i have my 3 trw's.

I have a bankruptcy in my past and both of my boy's vehicles were on it and I just bought a used 2007 Taurus and got 8%. This is in Nebraska.
